More writing tips, insights and encouragement coming your way
A subtle change in newsletter organization that will hopefully give your writing journey a boost, plus the first-ever workbook to be released in autumn 2023!
Enjoying playing outdoors with our kids on a beautiful summer day.
Hello, everyone! I hope you had a great long weekend. I enjoyed a lot of family time, so that felt very special.
My writing has been on pause. Remember when I wrote about when you feel like there’s a lot to do? I’m experiencing one of those busier periods with my work so I haven’t edited in a few days, but I’m working on that balance.
Speaking of work and writing and balance, I’m excited to share with you some exciting tweaks regarding how I’ll bring this newsletter to you!
Making writing tips easier to find: I want to make it easier for you to access writing tips quickly so that you can focus on actually writing, so I’ll start sending out writing tips (“The Heart of Storytelling”) separately from my writing updates (“The Writing Life”). This content is for free and paid subscribers.
Workbooks on various specialty topics: This autumn, I will release my first workbook—an online guided writing workshop—to paid subscribers, and it will also be accessible to free subscribers who upgrade to a monthly or annual payment plan (you can always cancel after one month, although I think that might mean losing access to the workbook). For now all workbooks will be available via Substack, but I am looking to learn more about the legal logistics of sharing workbooks as PDFs for purchase.
From the Heart: If you enjoy Doing the Write Thing, you may also like From the Heart, a newsletter I’ll be launching soon based on interest from subscribers. It will be a separate newsletter containing short, inspiring and thought-provoking reflections from the heart in both prose and poetry form. It’s meant to bring a dose of digestible feel-goodness to subscribers. I’ll keep you posted so that those who are interested can subscribe!
These changes reflect the fact that I’d like to offer more specialty content to paid subscribers to thank them for their financial support (aw, thank you!) while always continuing to offer solid, quality writing information and encouragement to all subscribers to thank all of you for your support. This support from each and every one of you means SO much!
Happy writing!
Sincerely,
Marisa
